What We Do
School of Creative Worship & Leadership
The SCWL is a part-time programme - ten weekends of training spread over two years - enabling people who work, or who have other commitments, to sign up. It takes place in the Czech Republic (although all courses are taught in Czech and English), and this year had an intake of eighty students from a wide range of church backgrounds, both Catholic and Protestant. Courses are taught by the Angel Mountain team, as well as by visiting guest teachers.
Our aim is to expose students to a wide range of input from teachers with a proven track record in their field. These include Karel Režábek (Czech pastor and musician, KS Plzen), Terl Bryant (Ex Iona drummer and founder of Psalm Drummers), Piotr Plecha (Polish bass player and teacher), Ron Man (USA, theologian with Greater Europe Mission and European Evangelical Alliance) and Rachel Hickson (prophetic teacher, UK). Summer Worship Retreat - CZ
Since that first week of worship back in 1999, we have held a Summer Worship Retreat every year in the Czech Republic. Now attracting 300 or so visitors from a number of countries, our focus is on community, worship and training. Held in the Czech Moravian-Bohemian Highlands, these are very relaxed events with plently of time to relax and re-charge your batteries and to enjoy the wonderful lakeside location. Please click here for details of this year's event.
Summer Worship Retreat - UK
Rydal Hall in Cumbria was the setting for a similar event in the UK in July 2008. Fifty of us met to worship and pray together. This was the first event of its kind in the UK, and we hope to repeat this in the future.
Riding the Storm - autumn gathering
Every autumn (normally late October) we also organise an event in the Czech Republic called Riding the Storm. These are short, focused weekends exploring radical aspects of our faith, and have been described by many as ‘life changing’.
Concerts, festivals and celebrations
Both in the UK and in mainland Europe we are involved in concerts and celebrations. John de Jong often travels with Libor Orel (drums), Lukáš Hradil (bass) and Ondrej Malina (guitar). In recent years we have played at the Vox festival in Prague, CampFest in Slovakia, Colours of Ostrava, and a festival in Talsi, Latvia. Numerous smaller concerts have encouraged many Christians and attracted many towards the faith. Contact John if you would like to book him for an event in your area. Vistit John's website (www.johndejong.info) for more information about his work and music.
Teaching
With many years’ experience between them, the AMM team is able to offer specialist teaching in the area of spiritual renewal, church growth and leadership, and the theology and philosophy of worship. We have partnered with the European Evangelical Alliance, YWAM (Discipleship Training Courses in various countries), Missionary Ventures (Bosnia-Herzegovina), and also with numerous local churches. Contact us if you feel we could help you in your community.
Templ Club, Ostrava
In 2006 we were offered the opportunity to rent a club on the famous Stodolni in Ostrava. This street, with over 70 clubs, is a hub of cultural activity - a place where thousands go each weekend to chill and experience the diverse night life. The Templ club looks just like any other club, except that it it run by two of our trustees - Lukáš and Petra Hradilovi. Whilst not directly involved in the business of the club, we as a ministry support Lukáš and Petra, and we support cultural events at the club which include concerts, theatre shows, choral evenings and clubs for disabled people. It is a great way to connect with culture in the city at street-level, and a growing community of the clientele are finding a new sense of belonging through their involvement with us. Click here to visit the Templ Club wesite.
Our involvement in the club has opened doors for bands such as Delirious? and Psalm Drummers to play at the prestigious Colours of Ostrava festival, and has resulted in a very positive impact on the city.
Welcome to Cumbria
High Chapel House, a former Manse in the peaceful Westmorland village of Ravenstonedale is the UK home of Angel Mountain Ministries. From here there is easy access to both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks, but you probably won't want to travel too far: this area - the Upper Eden Valley - is a true walker's paradise, known for its tranquility and beauty. The house itself, a beautiful Grade II Listed Building, has been completely refurbished and occupies probably the best location in the village, with stunning views over open fields towards the Howgill Fells. We have lovely en-suite B&B rooms, and also offer special spiritual ‘spa’ weekends where you can experience the delights of this alluring countryside, combined with musical and spiritual refreshment. On top of this heady mixture, you will also be pampered with the fruit of Yelly’s renowned cookery skills! It will be fun. For more info, please email John or call 015396 23411.
